Mineral Baustoff GmbH

construction material industry

General company description:

Mineral Baustoff GmbH As a part of the STRABAG group, the Mineral-group emerged as a leading raw material producer of the extraction of gravel, sand and quartz for middle, south-eastern and eastern Europe. The German Mineral Baustoff GmbH is represented through Germany through four administrations and ensures the comprehensive supply of high-quality mineral raw material with 20 quarries and gravel plants.

Project role

The Mineral Baustoff GmbH provides the use case of the branch of hard rock mining, restructures the strip mine for the operation of electrical transport systems and by that provides on of the two developement, trial and demonstration environments. As a part of the project, the following goals shall be archived:

  • Decarbonization of the strip mine by optimizing it’s infrastructure
  • Division of consumer and operation traffic to increase the work safety and the transport performance
  • Process changeover onto electrical and autonomous havy goods transportation
  • Digital connection of all relevant processes in the mine
  • Decarbonization of the strip mine of Eigenrieden through the use of electrified and autonomous mobile transport machines
  • Recuding the noise emission and improving the work safety through the use of electrical transport trays
  • Ensuation of the result transfe

The Mineral Baustoff GmbH assumes the following tasks in the ELMAR research project

  1. Transport way management: Initially, the Mineral Baustoff GmbH is going to perform a inventory analysis to evaluate the infrastructure located at the mine of Eigenrieden. Based on these insights plans shall be developed and the infrastructure shall be optimized. This includes the construction of new ramps and dumpers. Die division of consumer and operation traffic hereby plays a crucial role to ensure the work safety (reg. accident prevention) during operation. Additionally, this shall archieve a more efficient transport (by averting stop & go on conveying routes). Targeted are approx. 5 % faster transport.
  2. Digital processing of the extraction plant: The operation of the extraction plant is digitized to archieve a more efficient and transparent functioning. This includes the usage of various technologies of capturing and processing of relevant data.
  3. Process & operation analysis: The plant is exactly analyzed to determine the requirements of the change onto electrical and autonomous mobile heavy goods transportation. This includes the evaluation of the processes and the identification of optimization potentials.
  4. Networking the process chain: To archieve a holistic digitation of the quarry, the whole production chain is networked. This can be used to seamlessly exchange information and data between the various departments and partners.
  5. Switch on electrical and autonomous transport: The switch on elecitrical and autonomous transport is predetermined as a demonstrator of environmentally friendly methods. Herethrough the CO2-footprint shall be minimized and the work safety be improved.
  6. Concept preparation of safety requirements: A concept to fulfill the safety requirements of electrical and autonomous transport during operation is elaborated.
