About us

ELMAR is unique as a project for electrification and automatization of raw material extraction in Germany.

ELMAR is a research project funded by the German Ministry of Economy and Climate Protection with a duration of three years (up to Juli 2025) and a funding volume of 11 mio. Euros. Target of the project is the electrification of the intra company transport in raw material extraction on the foundation of battery electric and autonomous transport vehicles (trays). With special consideration of the preservation of operation safety in production and guaranteeing the security of electrical supply as well as their coupling onto renewable energy resources, the project syndicate develops solution approaches, which are demonstrated and validated in three representative application scenarios. The holistic approach allows an optimization from the site of production and energy demand up to the site of energy supply.

Quarry of Eigenrieden: How we climate-neutrally gain our material.

In the limestone quarry of Eigenrieden we want to reduce the CO₂ emissions in raw material extraction and the production of building material mixtures and grit step by step to operate the first climate neutral quarry in Germany by 2027. This pilot project of decarbonization makes the location in Thuringia
